Sony Xperia 2 launch in 2020: What to Expect?

After the successful launch of Sony Xperia 1, Sony is all set to launch its successor Sony Xperia 2 in 2020. Sony Xperia 1 offered its users some top-end specifications. As there are so many rumors about the enhanced features that we can see in the upcoming Sony Xperia 2, but we’ll have to wait until its launch. It is also important to consider the actual launch date of Sony Xperia 2 as we have witnessed a delay in Sony Xperia 1. It was expected to be launched in February 2019 but was launched in June 2019.

As per the trend of the company, it launches two flagships each year. It’s the normal practice of the company to launch the second mobile in the third quarter of the year. They normally announce their upcoming mobile in a tech trade show IFA held every year in Berlin, Germany. However, we didn’t get Xperia 2 in this year’s IFA, however, we saw another one with similar features with Xperia 1 and with a smaller discount, Xperia 5, in this show.

We should expect any news about Xperia 2 at the start of 2020, maybe in Mobile World Congress 2020 expo (MWC) which is held from February 24-27 every year. Whenever it is launched, it will have a higher price as compared to Xperia 1. However, we can’t estimate exactly how much will it cost but at least it will be expensive more than Xperia 1.

The biggest surprise that it can give to mobile lovers is its processor. The rumors are that it will have Snapdragon X65 Processor, which will make this mobile the most potent mobile of the history. No other mobile has this type of processor in the past.

The camera is also going to be special with triplet rear camera with eight lenses around the back. The rear camera may have 12MP main lens, 12MP telephoto, and 12MP wide-angle one. It may also have 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. The design will resemble that of Xperia 1 with 21:9 screen, plain back, right edge crowded with buttons, and a full bezel above the screen. The display of Xperia 2 is expected to be smaller and with a lower resolution with a 6.1-inch 1080 X 2520 AMOLED screen as compared to its successor which has a 6.5-inch 1644 X 3840 display. It may also be supported with wireless charging with 3,000mAh battery.

Sony put a lot of focus on filmmaking in Xperia 1, so we can expect some enhanced feature of filmmaking in Xperia 2 as well. Here are some of the features that everyone eagerly waiting for Xperia 2 would love to expect:

Brightness:

Although Xperia 1 came up with a good screen but one drawback it had with its brightness that made content bad looking. With Xperia 2, users would love to have a good screen with the best brightness.

Battery:

All modern smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, Huawei P30 Pro, OnePlus 7 Pro have a battery of 4,000mAh. Whereas Xperia 1 came up with 3,300mAh which doesn’t even last for one day. New Xperia 2 is expected to have a good battery of 4,000mAh.

Fingerprint Scanner:

The current Xperia 1 has fingerprint scanner issue. The first one doesn’t work all the time properly. The second one is its location. All the latest mobiles have in-screen scanners. Its side-mounted scanner makes it terrible. So, users really want to see an in-screen camera in Xperia 2 and also a reliable one that is able to work all the time.

Better Camera

Although Xperia 1 has triple rear cameras but the result of two of them is terrible with photos looking unnatural and giving the option of just 2x optical zoom. People would love to see improvement in camera result in Xperia 2.

Wireless Charging

It’s very disappointing that Xperia 1 lacked the wireless charging support which has become a standard feature in almost all the latest smartphones. Hopefully, Sony will provide this support in Xperia 2.

Aspect Ratio

Sony Xperia 1 aspect ration is good which is 21:9. It is a special feature as compared to other phones and is great for watching videos. Xperia 1 with the widescreen aspect ratio is special and people would love to see the same aspect ratio in Xperia 2.
