Every day we come across so much news about the technological advancements that have a great impact on our daily lives. But today there is special news from our scientists. The technical advancements have made it possible to connect with each other no matter how busy everyone is. However, this connection is not limited to humans living on earth. Now scientists discover another Sun-Earth like solar system where life may be possible.
The scientists working in Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research conducted the study in the leadership of astrophysicist Rene Heller. They studied planets Kepler-160, which is at a distance of around 3,000 light-years away. Their study shows that exoplanet there has a resemblance to earth. An exoplanet is a planet that is outside of our solar system.
Scientists have discovered exoplanets in the past as well. Until now, they have discovered 4,000 exoplanets. However, this looks most similar to the Sun-Earth relationship i.e. The Kepler-160 and its companion KOI-456.04.
The distance of the planet from the star is the same as Sun-Earth which supports the evidence that the temperature of the planet supports life. The discovery is different from others in the sense that all other stars discovered so far emit infrared radiation. Whereas Kepler-160 emits visible light.
The researchers published their study in Astronomy and Astrophysics Journal on Thursday. According to the Max Planck Institute, ” KOI-456.04 is more than just another potentially habitable world”. They termed the light from its star is the same as the daylight on our home planet.
All exoplanets discovered so far are less than twice the size of Earth that has mild temperatures. All of them orbit around a red dwarf which emits high energy flare which makes life on these exoplanets impossible.
The Kepler-160 has almost the same temperature as the Sun. It has 5200-celsius temperature which is 300 degrees less than the Sun. Whereas it has 1.1 solar radii. According to the findings, there are four planets orbiting around Kepler-160. The most interesting findings are the orbiting period which is also similar to our solar system. The orbiting period of planets is 378 days.
According to scientists, the planet may have water as well and may have a surface temperature of +5 degrees on average. However, an important point that researchers make in their study that though it is a statistical estimate but accuracy about their estimate about this planet is 85%. However, they are hopeful that in future they will be able to get more information about KOI 456.04 i.e. Earth 2.0.
