Everyone around us is so curious about Alexa? What is it? How does it work? Although Amazon claims that the number of users is increasing each year but still there are a large number of people who still have no idea about Alexa. If you are one of them then don’t worry, we will guide you through this idea. Before going into the detail, I would like you to think of some machine that performs your tasks and answers your questions. You must be wondering how is it possible? Now, this has been made possible by Amazon’s Alexa that works the same as a virtual assistant. It is like a digital assistant.

Alexa is somewhat a virtual assistant as described before; it works as Amazon virtual personal assistant. It was launched in 2014, and Amazon Echo was its first home. Amazon Echo is a smart speaker that speaks to you and answers your question. Since then, Alexa is getting more and more smarter. Today, there are hundreds of modern Echo speakers available on Amazon that you can buy.

Alexa is not a computer program. You must give commands and then it responds through speakers. That means it works through voice control. Every Alexa speaker is equipped enough with a microphone to answer your questions. If you want to start giving commands to your virtual assistant, you start this by saying “Alexa”, the lighting up of the speaker gives an indication that Alexa is ready to answer your questions. However, the communication mechanism of Alexa looks so complex but is still so instant that when you ask a question from Alexa, it is processed by Amazon cloud server by powerful computers to figure out your query. When they are finished figuring out, they work out the best answer and beam back to Alexa speaker, and is delivered to you. This process does not take hours but just a few milliseconds.
